Adding DSD files to Roon

Roon has built a beautiful player that let's you play DSD files. In this article I'll describe on how you add those files to your library. I have used my Mac, but this process is very similar on a PC. The screenshots may be outdated since Roon constantly improves their software. But the process will be similar.

First, open up Roon, and then open the preference pane window.

  • In the preferences window, open the Storage Tab on the left and then look for the "Add Folder" button.

  • In the next window, find the folder where the music is you would like to add, and hit "Select This Folder".

  • Now, the folder path has been loaded, and you can select extra options, or just hit the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen.

The music is added quite quickly, awhile the first window of the preferences pane stays open. The storage location list now lists the new path you just added, and mentions how many tracks were imported from that path. You may see the newly imported album in the background. It will look something like this:

  • Close the preferences window by clicking NEXT to it, and find your newly imported music ready to be played.
